After an enjoyable meal at the Pickle Barrel, Yorkdale Mall was closing. On the escalator out of the subterranean restaurant, Matthew admired the small waterfall that spilled out across the archway above. The meal had been content and both men were quite pleased with their afternoon.
"So how do we get back to the car?" Gilbert asked noticing all the gates being drawn across the shops and stores.
"I guess we'll have to go outside and walk around," Matthew said pointing to the nearest exit.
They walked out the sliding doors and into a group of smokers loitering outside.
"Aw, man. Gross," Matthew said covering his nose with his sleeve, "Do they always have to smoke right outside the mall? I mean, seriously…"
"The faster we move, the further we'll get from them I guess," Gilbert said, "Now which way to the car again?"
"Uh…" Matthew looked out at the parking lot that was only slightly emptier then when they'd gotten there. "I'm not sure. Well, it's the silver Honda civic…"
Gilbert face palmed seeing that nearly every car was silver. "Okay, what entrance did we park at?"
"Um, I think we were near the movie theatre," Matthew suggested.
"That way, then," Gilbert said walking down the side walk.
Matthew followed. "It might not have been that way…"
"We'll just look over there and if it's not there, we'll turn back," Gilbert said.
"Okay, it's just I kinds think it might be on The Bay's side…" Matthew said pointing behind them.
"Just come on," Gilbert said, now a little angrily.
Matthew grabbed Gilbert's hand and stopped him. "Gil, are you mad at me?"
"Nein," Gilbert said, "Let's go, seriously."
"If you're mad at me, I'm sorry," Matthew said, "Please don't be mad."
Gilbert now took the time to look at Matthew who now had tears in his eyes. The Prussian's heart sank.
"God, Mattie. I'm not mad at you," Gilbert said scratching his head, "Let's just go find the car. You don't have to cry."
"I'm not crying," Matthew said wiping his eyes.
"You are too," Gilbert said.
"I am not," Matthew said crossing his arms. Gilbert thought he looked so cute all huffy like that. He went up to him and wrapped his arms around the Canadians waist.
"Mattie, I'm not mad at you for losing the car. It's your car; you can do what you want with it."
"Ha ha, you're hilarious," Matthew said sarcastically.
"Mattie, you care too much," Gilbert said.
"You care too little."
Gilbert chuckled and looked back the way they were going. "Hey, is the movie theatre still open?"
"Yes, I suppose," Matthew said.
"You want to catch a movie?" Gilbert asked.
Matthew checked his watch. "It's kind of late. It's ten."
"What are we, eight years old?" Gilbert asked, "Let's see a movie!"'
"I don't know what's playing."
"Mein Gott," Gilbert said, "This is a date! People on dates don't care what they're going to see! Let's see anything!"
Matthew looked sad again. "Are you mad at me again? Don't be!"
Gilbert smiled in disbelief. "You are ridiculously messed up! Mattie, I love you! Let's just see a movie together!"
Matthew paused surprised.
Gilbert then realized what he'd said. Both boys blushed and looked away from each other.
Silence fell for what seemed like ours.
"Err…" Matthew emitted finally, "We can go see a movie if you want." He didn't look a t Gilbert."
"Only if you want to," Gilbert said without looking as well.
"I want to."
"Okay, let's go."
"M'kay."
Wow, took a long time to make and nothing really happened in this one... Well, except the L word thing... This is so cheesy.

Oh Yorkdale...I've gotten lost there so many times...It really is annoying when they block off the exits and then you have to walk all the way around the mall. :/
